Hey Blondies! I recently went blonde again, and that means I’m back to battling knotted hair and those evil coppery tones. Those of you who are also blonde, probably know what I’m talking about it.
Don’t worry though! This article can be helpful for anyone with color treated hair, not just blondes. Just skip the purple shampoo, and follow the rest. The majority of these tips are aimed to get your overly processed hair some life back! So whether you’re blonde or brunette if you’re needing some shine, read on girl!
To keep your hair healthy, shiny, and cool toned here are some of my favorite must-have products!
What Every Blonde Girl Needs:
My all-time favorite deep conditioner for damaged hair is the macadamia oil deep repair mask. Despite it being a little pricey it is literally a dream come true! This is by far the most enriching formula I’ve found to help repair split ends and make your hair silky smooth. Bonus, if you have a T.J. Maxx in your area they almost always have this brand for close to half off!
Although I love this product dearly, it has a heavy formula, so avoid over using it. Keep in mind that If you use this more than once a week your hair will become weighed down.
Purple shampoo is a must! Unless you’re going for that orange and copper hair-do, you need to get some of this baby in your life. It will help your hair color last, and expand the length of time between hair salon visits! What’s better than that?
The purple shampoo I’ve been glued to is the Tigi Catwalk Fashionista Violet Shampoo. This purple shampoo has a dark rich purple color that is perfect for canceling out all those undesired orange and coppery tones. To use this product, just get your hair wet and then put a generous amount of product through your hair. Once it’s evenly you can put your hair up in a bun and go about the rest of your shower business. Typically, by the you’re done washing up, and shaving your legs it’ll have been sitting for about 5 minutes, and will be ready to be washed out. Then you go about conditioning like normal, and let it dry. To your delight you’ll be left with the cool toned hair you had left the salon with!
If you’re not a natural blonde, then you know it’s not easy to keep those golden locks healthy! Countless salon visits do not lead to shiny hair. If anything, it leads to super damaged hair! Luckily, with the products I’ve mentioned I’ve managed to kick it back into shape. However, Hair oil is a great healing treatment, but it’s also a great “fake it till you make it” type of product. If your hair is lacking a healthy shine, adding a hair oil will give it the illusion of being healthier than it is while nourishing it.
For thin or heavy hair, I recommend the macadamia healing oil spray. This formula isn’t as heavy as its counterpart and won’t weigh down your hair.
If you have thick hair that isn’t already weighed down the healing oil treatment would be great for you! It’s more rich than the one mentioned above so it’s slightly more heavy but it packs a bigger punch! This stuff will kick your hair into shape in no time! Since this is a heavier formula, I would use it more sparingly.
Considering you will probably be using more products to make your hair look great, you’re going to want a shampoo that can get rid of all the build up! Masks, hair oils, and any other treatments of styling products will create some gunk. When the gunk builds up it’s going to weigh down your hair and give you some terrible hair days. So make sure you have a good clarifying shampoo to use once a week or every other week. Giving your hair a deep clean will also help it to absorb all the awesome stuff you’re giving it throughout the week!
This Kenra clarifying shampoo is great, but there’s also some good alternatives at the drug store!
On top of deep conditioner, it’s great to get some hair masks! The main difference between deep conditioners and hair masks are the amount of time you leave them in. Typically, a deep conditioner is only a few minutes, while a mask can be overnight or all day.
One of my all-time favorite best hair masks is completely natural! Coconut oil! You can find this at any grocery store, and it works wonders. All you have to do is leave it in all night and rinse it out in the morning. Be prepared for a little bit of oily hair for a day or two, but it’s definitely worth it if you’re looking for a cheap and effective way of giving your hair some life back!
I hope this article helped you with your hair care needs! If you’d like any other hair tips in the future let me know! I’ve tested too many products trying to find the perfect ones to keep my hair healthy and looking sleek. I’d love to save you guys some of the hassle, and lay the best ones out there for ya!
