School weeks are long. Heck they start on Monday and go all the way till Friday! So why don’t you deserve to let loose at the end of it all? Well, you do! However, letting loose doesn’t always have to include consuming more alcohol than your daily water intake. Partying can be fun. I totally get wanting to go out on the weekends, but it doesn’t need to be an every night of every weekend kind of thing. Moderation is key.
If you decide to take the weekend off from going out, your body will thank you. You’ll have more time to rest, and won’t be starting off your week groggy and dehydrated. Alright, so maybe skipping the party isn’t a cure all, and come Monday morning you still may be groggy. However, it will make an impact on how rested you feel and it will let your mind and body reboot over the weekend. Staying in from time to time can be the best medicine you can give yourself to cure stress, exhaustion, and procrastination!
That’s right, I’m a student too, and I see you. I’m enough of a procrastinator on my own, and I sure as heck don’t need a hangover and terrible mood to help me put things off. I’m good enough at it on my own, thank you! I’m sure you don’t need the extra help either. Staying home for the weekend can help you feel rested and relaxed, and give you the time you need to do your homework, instead of crunching at 7 p.m. on Sunday night.
So if you aren’t already convinced, here is a list of 5 reasons why you should stay in this weekend.
1. Your body could probably use the rest
After a long and hard week of school, or work your mind and body are exhausted. Instead of going out, give your body a break and a chance to rest. You don’t want to run your body into overdrive. Instead, try pampering yourself to restore and rejuvenate your body. The last thing you need is a hangover after an already stressful and long week.
Trust me, if you ditch the party this weekend, and take time for a spa night with just you, or a group of friends you won’t regret it. Not only will you feel relaxed and luxurious, you will be ready for a great night’s sleep after all the prepping you did to calm yourself down. As we all know, getting a restful night’s sleep can do wonders for how you’ll feel throughout the rest of the week.
2. You can make memories you’ll remember and build stronger relationships
Skipping the parties doesn’t mean you can’t still be connected with all your friends. Instead of hitting up a party, or the local bar, plan something to do with your friends that doesn’t include getting wasted. Don’t be shy, and feel free to still drink, but in order to build strong relationships and friendships all your outings together shouldn’t consist of drinking, and getting smashed.
So, if you aren’t going out this weekend, invite some friends to stay in with you. I always love a good girl’s night with movies, junk food, and face masks. However, you could do anything from going out to dinner, to floating the river. Remember, just because you aren’t going out doesn’t mean you can’t leave your house! So feel free to plan anything that sounds fun to you and your friends.
3. You’ll be more motivated to get school work done
Procrastinating is already so easy, and it’s a heck of a lot easier to do when you feel terrible. So, one of the best ways to have a productive weekend is to rest up. Make sure to give yourself enough free time where you don’t feel too rushed or stressed to get you work done.
I know whenever I get a good night of sleep I’m ready to tackle the day. So that extra sleep you get from not staying up late will help you tackle your to do list and finish up your homework.
4. You’ll get to skip the massive hangover you would have had
Hangovers are the worst! They make you dehydrated, have a massive headache, and if you’re really unlucky they can even make you sick all morning long. No one enjoys this part about drinking. Yet, many people ignore it the next time they go out.
I’m positive that if you stay in with minimal drinking your body will be thanking you. A hangover is surely not something you will be missing! I can guarantee that you won’t be jealous of your friends that went out and partied come the next morning.
5. You’ll have time to treat yourself instead of wrecking yourself
All that time you’ll be saving on Friday and Saturday night by not going out to a party you can spend treating yourself! Depending on what helps you relax, and what you need this could be anything from some extra Zzzzz’s to a face mask, or maybe even a tub full of ice cream (I’m not here to judge).
Sometimes you just need to give yourself some self love and appreciation, and staying in may be just what you need! There’s nothing I love more, and find more relaxing than having a Bachelor marathon with myself while binging on some chocolate and popcorn. Of course, accompanied with my hydrating sheet mask that makes me look like a serial killer out of a cheesy horror film. But hey, I’m alone and no one is there to judge, which is one of the best parts of it all.
So if you’ve had a super exhausting week, staying in may be just the thing you need! Skipping the party doesn’t mean you have to have a dry weekend either, feel free to sip on that wine (or beer) and unwind. You deserve to relax! So kick up your feet, and get to doing nothing. The weekend only lasts so long anyways. 😉
